How to get to Tallinn
- Most popular way for tourists to get to Tallinn is via the ferry from Helsinki. There are currently 3 companies operating lines between the cities and you can always find the one that suits for your schedule and budget.

To Tallinn by busBus is other way to get there,- Ecolines, Eurolines, Nordeca - bus companies connecting Tallinn with the biggest Europian cities. You can book tickets online.
Bus Station situated in the Old Town, within 5 - 10 minutes from the Medieval part of the city by the tram

To Tallinn by planeFastest way is by the plane. Airport located some 10 - 12 km from the city; car rent, bus, taxi - within 15 minutes you are there. At the bottom of the page, you`ll find proper flight for reasonable price and suitable hotel according your budget.

UNESCO's World Heritage list.
The whole centre of Tallinn has been inscribed upon the UNESCO's World Heritage list since 1997. The well-preserved medieval character of the buildings, the powerful defensive walls, wooden buildings and cobblestone streets make you feel like being back in time.

Visitor`s tricks
If you will be in Tallinn for 24 hours or longer and wish to see as much as possible while there,
consider a Tallinn Card. The card is available at Tourist Information Centers, but also at the airport from Estravel Airport office, hotels, travel agencies, etc.

The standard Tallinn Card comes in 24-, 48- and 72-hour versions. Tallinn Cards for children up to 14 years old have separate prices.
Keep in mind though that there's no need to buy a card for children up to 6 years since city transport, most excursions and museums are free for them.

  The card covers admission to approximately 40 museums and sights about town, including the Tallinn Zoo, the Estonian Open Air Museum, a 2 1/2 sightseeing tour, the Kadriorg Palace with art museum, Tallinn City Museum, etc., etc.. If you like museums, this card might be a good value for you.

Tallinn Trams and Buses
Tallinn has a reasonably efficient system of trams and buses, connecting tourists to the main ferry terminal, the train station, the central bus station, and the airport. If you're spending most of your time in the Old Town, your feet will be your primary mode of transit, and you'll probably only need the buses and trams to get in and out.
If this is the case, the easiest option is to purchase a single-ride ticket from the driver for EUR 1.60.
If you're planning to travel extensively around the new town and outskirts, it might be worth your while to purchase an electronic Smartcard for EUR 2.

Safety
Tallinn seems to be a quite safe destination for travellers. You just need common sense
like every else in the world; and like in many other places of our world there are sick people.
As in every bigger city so in Tallinn there are suburbs a tourist should avoid - firstly for your own safekeep and secondly hardly you can find any entertaining tourist attraction thereby. I would advise to keep away from the peninsula of Kopli in the region Põhja-Tallinn (you'll find a city plan at  tourism.tallinn.ee/map  to see what I'm talking about).
